They generally regress with aging.<\/p>\r\n        <p><strong>Typical nevi are mostly symmetrical (round or oval), have well-defined, non-jagged borders, and uniform coloration<\/strong>. They usually do not enlarge and preserve the normal fine skin furrows on their surface. These features help distinguish them from melanoma.<\/p>\r\n      <\/div>\r\n\r\n      <div class=\"col-md-12\">\r\n        <h3>Types of nevi and their features<\/h3>\r\n        <p>There are three main types of nevi:<\/p>\r\n        <ul class=\"inline\">\r\n          <li>Junctional<\/li>\r\n          <li>Compound<\/li>\r\n          <li>Intradermal<\/li>\r\n        <\/ul>\r\n\r\n        <div class=\"row rino\">\r\n          <div class=\"col-md-6\">\r\n            <h4>Junctional and compound nevi<\/h4>\r\n            <p><strong>Junctional and compound nevi carry a very low risk of malignant change<\/strong>. They are typically flat or slightly raised, with homogeneous color ranging from light brown to black, sometimes with evenly distributed darker dots.<\/p>\r\n          <\/div>\r\n          <div class=\"col-md-6 no-shad\">\r\n            <h4>Intradermal nevi<\/h4>\r\n            <p><strong>Intradermal nevi are often hemispherical or dome-shaped and raised<\/strong>, with a smooth, cobblestone, or warty surface, sometimes bearing hair. Their color may be light, brown, or black, but usually remains uniform.<\/p>\r\n          <\/div>\r\n        <\/div>\r\n      <\/div>\r\n\r\n      <div class=\"col-md-12\">\r\n        <h3>How nevi are removed<\/h3>\r\n        <p>Nevi are benign lesions and <strong>are removed only if considered at risk for transformation or upon the patient\u2019s aesthetic request<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n        <p><strong>Removal is performed with a small skin excision just outside the edge of the nevus to ensure complete removal<\/strong>. Warning signs of nevus transformation include:<\/p>\r\n        <ul>\r\n          <li><strong>Border irregularity<\/strong> (jagged, poorly defined edges)<\/li>\r\n          <li><strong>Color variegation<\/strong> (areas of very dark pigmentation alongside lighter brown or even pale areas)<\/li>\r\n          <li><strong>Asymmetry<\/strong><\/li>\r\n          <li><strong>Noticeable enlargement<\/strong><\/li>\r\n          <li><strong>Ulceration or bleeding<\/strong> (typically a late sign)<\/li>\r\n        <\/ul>\r\n      <\/div>\r\n\r\n      <div class=\"col-md-12\">\r\n        <h3>Is it melanoma? In rare cases, they can also affect younger people due to individual or familial predisposition.<\/p>\r\n        <p>The face is one of the areas most exposed to ultraviolet rays and therefore shows the highest incidence.<\/p>\r\n      <\/div>\r\n\r\n      <div class=\"col-md-12\">\r\n        <h3>How diagnosis is made<\/h3>\r\n        <p><strong>Diagnosis is based on careful clinical examination of the lesion<\/strong>.
