Age groups vary, but it is mostly couples who visit plastic surgeons once their children are independent, in university, or have left home. <\/p>\r\n
Surgeons report that couples often schedule cosmetic procedures together to share an experience that helps keep their bond alive. <\/p>\r\n
Many surgeons also note that this practice is far from unusual: \u201cPeople with a similar mindset, who have been together for many years and share common interests, tend to make similar choices.\u201d <\/p>\r\n
In some cases, one partner chooses a specific procedure, such as blepharoplasty, only after seeing the results of the same surgery on the other partner. <\/p>\r\n
Vivian Diller, psychologist and author of “Face It: What Women Really Feel as Their Looks Change and What to Do About It”<\/em>, warns that such decisions, if not carefully considered by both patient and surgeon, may lead to regrets. <\/p>\r\n Other specialists, such as plastic surgeon Richard Agag, suggest that the driving force behind this trend could be social media. <\/p>\r\n
“From what I\u2019ve seen in the last two years, I believe the biggest shift in social habits has been influenced by social media,” explains Dr. Agag. <\/p>\r\n
Plastic surgery \u2014 or any form of aesthetic enhancement \u2014 should remain a personal choice, not the result of outside pressures or the desire to imitate others. <\/p>\r\n
