Plump and sexy lips? A natural filler from a neck muscle

Natural lip filler from neck muscle for fuller lips

Some women undergoing facelift surgery to rejuvenate their face may no longer need hyaluronic acid or other fillers: the latest surgical technique uses a neck muscle to achieve fuller, more attractive lips.

This method was tested in Florida at the Aesthetic Surgery Centre in Naples on 25 patients who underwent the procedure and reported satisfactory results. The findings were published in the journal Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Lip volume can be enhanced during a facelift: the surgeon removes a small segment of the platysma muscle with its connective tissue, normally discarded as excess, and implants it into the lips. The procedure is simple, carries minimal risk of complications, and produces longer-lasting effects compared to other cheiloplasty techniques.

Hyaluronic acid and gore-tex are the most modern solutions to an ancient cosmetic concern: since antiquity, women have used natural dyes and coloured clays to make their lips appear more sensual.

Lip augmentation remains one of the most requested cosmetic surgery procedures. According to evolutionary psychologists, the reason is Darwinian: men, they say, prefer partners with fuller lips, as they are seen as symbols of fertility and youth, and therefore of reproductive potential.
