What is medical rhinoplasty

In recent years, a new solution has taken hold: medical rhinoplasty, without the obligatory use of a scalpel. It is an aesthetic medicine treatment to correct minor defects, especially of the back and tip of the nose. Also known as rhinofiller, the technique allows you to modify the profile of the nose simply with injections based on hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite ; Botulinum toxin is also used to increase tip projection. The procedure lasts less than an hour and is carried out in the clinic. Anesthesia is not required and the results are seen immediately as the filler is injected: which is why the surgeon can decide together with the patient when to stop. After the treatment the patient experiences a slight redness and swelling which will resolve in a short time. With medical rhinoplasty we cannot speak of a real correction: it is possible to correct only the aesthetic problem , not the functional one of the deviation of the nasal septum.

Medical rhinoplasty therefore has limitations: for example, reductive interventions are not possible, ie to reduce the size of the nose. But if the dimensions are correct and you only want to correct a hump or raise the tip, the filler can be a valid alternative to the scalpel. However, the result is not definitive and must be repeated after about 1 year.

A good knowledge of anatomy and good experience are also required for medical rhinoplasty. It is essential to rely on expert hands, especially since you work in a delicate area, potentially exposed to complications. Injecting too much filler or in the wrong areas or levels, for example, can penetrate blood vessels and cause skin damage.
