Mastopexy

Mastopexy

Breast lift, more commonly known as a breast lift, is a highly requested procedure in cosmetic surgery. It is indicated for women who wish to lift sagging breasts (mammary ptosis) or reduce and change the shape and size of the areola.

Breast ptosis can depend on many factors: skin characteristics, adipose component, glandular component, pregnancy, breastfeeding, drastic and sudden weight loss, aging, menopause, etc. Breast ptosis can be classified into four different degrees depending on the relaxation of the breast and the position of the areola-nipple complex with respect to the inframammary sulcus. Breast lifting is a very safe, not painful operation, which can also be performed in day hospital and characterized by rapid post-operative recovery times, provided however that it is performed by a specialist in plastic surgery within authorized facilities. Women who require this type of surgery are especially those whose breasts have lost their original shape and volume due to factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding and aging. Breast lifting is particularly suitable for women with small and sagging breasts because in the case of very abundant breasts the aesthetic result obtained can be subsequently compromised by the effects of gravity. With mastopexy, in addition to correcting the position of the breast, it can also be increased in volume with a breast prosthesis.
As an alternative to the prosthesis, an autotransplant of fat taken from the same person, rich in stem cells, can be added to the rejuvenating effect of mastopexy. This method is very valid especially for enhancing the medial or upper quadrants of the breasts. Breast lift surgery lasts from an hour and a half to about three hours, is absolutely painless and ends with a small dressing and the use of a bra. The result of a mastopexy surgery is generally very good and long-lasting but not permanent, as it will always be conditioned by the lifestyle (weight gain and loss, smoking, pregnancy, etc.) and by the inevitable effects of gravity and aging. . The cost of the intervention is conditioned by various factors including the type of anesthesia practiced, the type of hospitalization (day hospital or hospitalization), the difficulty and expected duration of the intervention and the type of technique chosen.
